Pink Witch
Last month I experienced a tragedy so there was no art making for a while. I lost someone very close to me and I was trying to get my head together for a good two-three weeks. I have been trying to keep productive as of recent and have been churning a lot of art but I haven't been documenting them though. I plan to fix that soon. :] Here's one out of the many.

Under the Sea Strawberries - 2012
For March I tried to churn out a lot of illustrations. I came up with a small goal of getting a lot of pieces done to hang up either in a gallery but I'm trying to aim for a cafe honestly. Is it just me of do most people tend to go to cafes for coffee, tea and snacks than galleries? The only time I ever hear of someone going to an gallery is because they are either in it, have a friend showing stuff in it, or are there for free food. Anyway, I unfortunately only got two done but one of them took a while due to detail. Both are 11x14 and done with Copic multi-liners and sketch markers.
I'm trying to squeeze in one more piece for the month of March but I feel like I'm running out of ideas which is silly. I think what I'm struggling with is trying to make sure it's public friendly because I do enjoy darker macabre art but I don't want to draw things that I can't show openly. I even think what I'm doing now might be slightly risque to some people since they feature girls in lingerie. I guess I'll have to wait and find out. I plan on messaging a few managers tonight about hanging my art. The only place that I have some of my art hanging in is Blick Art Materials. Hoping to get some more public spaces to agree to it. :)

Cookie Cake Witch - 2012
My inspiration for this was pretty geeky and if anyone has ever played Kirby's Epic Yarn game for the Wii, you probably realize where it came from. In one part of the game, there is a section called Treat Land and there is a stage in that game that is titled Dark Manor. It's a treat themed stage laced with Halloween. Bats, cookies, etc. It was super duper cute and since I have been on a roll with the pin-up lingerie girls and sweets, I decided to incorporate the two. I used Copic markers as usual and smooth surface Bristol paper. I pushed myself by using 11x14 size paper. I usually work a lot smaller than that but I wanted a challenge. Another thing I did was focus more on background. I'm pretty weak with backgrounds and scenery so I'm happy how everything turned out. :]

Sweet Spring Illustration - 2012
Clothing is based off the color buttercup, sweets, and spring. The background I went a little wild with since it was my first time using the Copic air brush system set. I originally wanted it a soft yellow but then I just started adding color after color. Hahaha. I do like how it came out in the end. I just wanted to create something for spring. :]

Historical garment with a modern twist - 2008
During my junior year (2008) in the fashion department at my school, one of the main projects was a historical garment. Basically we had to research a certain area or if you were undecided, a certain culture. While researching, we had to chose a piece of clothing that represented that time period/culture and make it. One of the catches was that it had to be made somewhat similar to how it was constructed during the time period. I love pin-ups/lingerie so I chose the era of WWII and made a bullet bra and girdle. It's not my best work since I never made a bra or girdle before the project, but I'm proud of it none the less.
My modern twist to it was I hand dyed the silk with coffee. It was a pain to do since I had to lay out the fabric and pretty much sprinkle/spritz/smear/etc the wet cold coffee on. But the one perk was the coffee smelled really good, which is a lot for me to say since I don't drink coffee. :p

Pictures were taken by Lucas Blair and the model is Sarah Wiener. Sarah actually has a model mayhem in case anyone is interested: http://www.modelmayhem.com/1008158.
